Slashcode Log In
Rensselaer Club of New Jersey (RCNJ)
The Web Site rcnj.org has been in existance since 1997, and it suffered from all of the problems that static Web Sites run by / for non-profits typically have: dated content, no community features. By adopting Slash, we have made this site the most sophisticated community-based Web Site associated with RPI.
This is also a demonstration of CTDATA's ability to run more than one instance of Slash 0.3 on the same box. We wrote a mechanism to detect the server name of web requests, and we rewrote slashd, dailystuff, and slashlog.pl to provide a mechanism for explicitly passing the instance name around the system. This made it easy for us to separate the Slash instances by having their data reside in separate databases and log files.
I still hope to one day bring these technical innovations to the Slash 1.x code base, but it is hard for us to make the jump to a new code base when we have already successfully added so many of the 1.x features. Other than the full personalization of Slashboxes that exists in 0.9x and 1.x, we have most of the features that users see in 1.x. Check out our sites and let us know if you agree."
